Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Jr Stampede Hockey Club announces the hiring of Christopher Blaisuis as 18U Head Coach for the 2018-19 season.
The Sioux Falls Jr Stampede Hockey Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Blaisuis as the new Jr Stampede 18U head coach. Blaisuis replaces Dan Houck who resigned after two seasons where he led the team to repeat appearances in the USA Hockey Tier 1 National Tournament and oversaw the development and transition of several players to junior hockey. Blaisuis will take over the team effective June 1, 2018.
Coach Blaisuis brings a rich history of player development and junior hockey experience, working in all aspects of hockey operations including coaching, scouting, and recruiting. In his career, he has drafted, tendered or signed 33 players that went on to play NCAA D-I hockey. Blaisuis began his career as a scout for the Indiana Ice (USHL), then went on to become a founding member of the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL. He served as an assistant coach and director of player personnel for the program. In 2008, Blaisuis became director of scouting and player personnel for the Tri City Storm (USHL), helping transform the team into a championship caliber program and a Clark Cup Playoff berth. He was also instrumental in drafting NHL 1st round draft picks Jaden Schwartz and Beau Bennett. In 2010, Blaisuis became hockey operations assistant and USA scout for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL), and most recently was the head coach and director of hockey operations for the Willmar Warhawks (NA3HL). "Coach Blaisuis is the right person to continue the strong tradition of excellence we have with our U18 team. His experience with player development, player advancement, and junior hockey give him the tools to enrich our program right away. We are excited to have Chris join our program," said Jr Stampede General Manager, Matt Tobin.
Chris and his wife Heather have two boys, Brendan and Riley.
